Hello To All. I’m a student studying Creative Music Technology at Anglia Ruskin University in Cambridge, second year. Before I came here I was in a band called ‘We Do Kung Fu!’ and you can find us on www.myspace.com/wedokungfu
‘WE DO KUNG FU! were a BBC Radio featured, colourful, synth & brass-influenced electro-art-pop band, from the sleepy market town of Leominster, in Herefordshire. The 7-piece started making a racket in a lockup, near Leominster train station, in March 2008, and were all 23 years old or younger.
WDKF! received BBC Hereford and Worcester airplay from presenter/DJ Andrew Marston for promo track “Record Shop”, recorded with “All Guns Blazing”, produced and engineered in May ‘08 by BBC Hereford and Worcester sound engineer, Jon Marsh, at Shed Studios, in Herefordshire.
In November ‘08, the band recorded two spanking new promotional tracks, “Volume” and “… And It All Falls Down”, with the excellent Ant Chapman (Klaxons / McLusky / Bis producer + engineer) at INFX Studios, in Buckinghamshire. These tracks were mastered in January ‘09 by Mike Marsh @ The Exchange, in Camden (previously worked with Klaxons, Chemical Brothers, The Prodigy, Depeche Mode and Primal Scream) and are on the band’s promotional cd (… all copies have now gone, but you can listen to them on www.myspace.com/wedokungfu…)
… March ’09 saw WDKF! lead promo track, “Volume”, receive airplay and praise from Tom Robinson’s BBC 6Music Introducing Show, Andrew Marston’s BBC Hereford and Worcester “Friday Session: Introducing”, and a host of positive feedback and reviews. We Do Kung Fu! played their last gig at 10pm, at The Royal Oak, in their home town of Leominster, on Friday 4th September 2009, in a sweaty room, rammed full of their friends, family and guests, dancing their little socks off until the late hours… it was bloody great and you should’ve been there.’
